The Crowdcast Attendee Guide

Everything you need to know before, during, and after attending a Crowdcast event.

Looking for something specific?

Before scrolling, try searching this page using your browser's search:

  • Windows: Ctrl + F

  • Mac: ⌘ + F

  • Mobile: Use your browser's Find in Page option.

Search for keywords like register, chat, gallery, replay, audio, or video to jump straight to the information you need.

Or jump ahead to one of these sections:

  1. Before the Event → get ready.

  2. During the Event → participate.

  3. After the Event → watch the replay.

  4. Need Help? → troubleshoot.

Before the Event

Create (or Sign In to) Your Attendee Account

Most Crowdcast events require you to register using an email address. Creating an attendee account lets you:

  • Join events quickly

  • Access your registrations

  • Watch replays

  • Follow your favorite creators

Joining a Patreon Event?

If your creator uses Patreon for access, you'll need to connect your Patreon account before joining.

Register for an Event

Once you've registered, you'll receive a confirmation email and reminders before the event begins.

Need to unregister?

Check Your Device Before the Event

We recommend:

  • On a desktop we recommend the latest version of Chrome or Edge

  • Keeping your browser updated

  • Using a stable internet connection

  • Closing unnecessary browser tabs and applications

Recommended speeds:

  • 500 kbps → Very low quality (minimum)

  • 1 Mbps → Basic viewing

  • 2 Mbps → 👍 Recommended

  • 5 Mbps or higher → ⭐ Best experience

Need to Contact the Host?

Crowdcast hosts manage their own events and attendee communication.

If you have questions about:

  • your registration

  • event access

  • refunds

  • schedules

  • event content

please contact the event host directly. Most hosts include contact information on their website or in their event emails.

During the Event

Join the Event

Simply click your event link a few minutes before the scheduled start time. Your event link can be found in your confirmation of registration email, or your 10-minute reminder email (unless the host has turned this off). If the host hasn't gone live yet, you'll see a waiting screen until the event begins.

Participate During the Event

Depending on how the host has configured their event, you may be able to:

  • Chat with other attendees

  • React with emojis

  • Ask questions

  • Vote in polls

  • Join the Gallery

  • Speak live on Stage

Using Chat

Chat is where you'll communicate with the host and other attendees throughout the event.

You can:

  • send messages

  • react with emojis

  • send and click shared links

Planning to Speak on Camera?

If you've been invited to join the Gallery or Stage, it's worth preparing before you go live.

Topics include:

  • camera and microphone setup

  • browser permissions

  • headphones

  • internet recommendations

Multi-Session Events

Some Crowdcast events include multiple sessions.

You'll see the available sessions in the event navigation, and you can move between sessions depending on the host's settings.

After the Event

Watch the Replay

If the host has enabled replays, you can return to the event page anytime to watch again.

Need Help?

If something isn't working, don't worry - most issues can be resolved in just a few minutes.

Will I be charged to have an attendee account?

No. Attendee accounts are free.

Some events are ticketed, password protected, or Patreon exclusive events. The event gateways are managed by the host, not Crowdcast.

I Can't Hear Anything

Cause: Unless everyone is reporting this as an issue in the chat, this is most likely due to your device’s audio settings or browser permissions.

How to Fix:

  • Check your device volume and make sure it’s not muted or turned down too low.

  • Click the speaker icon in the Crowdcast player and adjust the volume.

  • Ensure your headphones or external speakers are properly connected. Try unplugging and reconnecting them.

  • Browser permissions: Make sure your browser is allowed to play sound.

  • Restart your browser and rejoin the event.

Stuck on Loading Screen or Can't Enter the Event?

Try:

  • Refresh the page.

  • Ensure you're using a supported browser. Chrome is recommended.

  • Try incognito mode or a different browser to rule out cache issues.

  • Disable browser extensions (such as ad blockers or privacy tools) that may interfere.

  • Ensure you are only signed-in on one location/browser/device.

  • Close any unused tabs or programs on the device you're currently using.

  • Consider using a VPN like TunnelBear.

  • Try updating your DNS settings. We recommend switching to:

    • Google DNS: 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4

    • Cloudflare DNS: 1.1.1.1 & 1.0.0.1

The Video Keeps Buffering or Freezing

Try:

  • refreshing the page

  • moving closer to your Wi-Fi router

  • switching to another network if available

  • closing downloads or streaming apps running in the background

Switching from Live to Smooth Mode: If an attendee experiences buffering or crackling audio during an event, they may see a message suggesting they switch playback modes. Attendees can hover over the stage and switch from Live Mode to Smooth Mode using the button in the top-left corner of the video player. This setting only affects the attendee’s own viewing experience and does not impact the stream for other viewers or the host.

Attendees can also adjust the quality of the stream by hovering over the top right corner of the video player and selecting the quality:

Video works, but no sound

Look for “Tap to unmute sound” on the bottom right of the video player:

Refresh if needed

Chat or Questions Aren't Updating

  • Refresh the page to reconnect to the event.

  • Make sure you have verified your email, so you can interact with the platform.

My Camera or Microphone Isn't Working

If you're joining the Gallery or Stage:

  • allow browser permissions

  • reconnect your camera or microphone

  • refresh the page if needed

See the Guest Speaker Guide for additional troubleshooting.

I Didn't Receive My Confirmation Email

Check your Spam or Junk folder

If you still can't find it, contact the event host.

I Can't Access My Event

Double-check that:

  • you're signed in using the same email address you registered with

  • you're using the correct event link

If access still isn't working, contact the event host.

Magic link not working

This happens when email scanners “use” the link before you.

Fix it:

  • Set a password instead

  • Use your registration confirmation email (this link does NOT expire)

  • Ask IT to whitelist: crowdcast.io

I accidentally started a trial - will I be charged?

Nope. Trials don’t auto-charge and will expire on their own.

How do I delete my account?

I paid but it’s asking me to pay again

This usually means:

  • You’re not signed in, or

  • You used a different email/login method

Fix:

  • Sign in with the same method you used to register

  • Check your email for confirmation

  • Verify your email in Account Settings

My card is being declined

  • Try another card

  • Contact your bank (they may be blocking the charge)

Event password not working

  • Passwords are case-sensitive

  • If it still fails → contact the host

Event missing from dashboard

You may have:

  • Used a different email

  • Logged in with a different method (Google, etc.)

Try signing out and back in correctly.

What is the “sign-in link” email?

It’s a password-free login link (not event registration).

Sign-in link expired?

Password Problems, Can’t Log In or Access the Event?

You may be using the wrong email or experiencing login issues.

  • Make sure you're using the correct email (check your invite or confirmation email). If you've accidentally registered with an incorrect email, simply create a new Crowdcast account with the correct email, and re-register for the event. If it's a paid event, contact the host and request they import you manually into the event with the correct email address.

  • If your login link, or your existing password isn’t working, try entering your email and reset your password if necessary.

  • Ensure you are only signed-in on one location/browser/device.

  • Close any unused tabs or programs on the device you're currently using.

Can’t access a Patreon event?

This is usually due to one of the following:

  • You're not logged into Patreon with the correct account that has access to the event. Disconnect + reconnect if needed.

  • Your Crowdcast email does not match your Patreon email.

  • Your membership tier, or the amount you are paying on Patreon does not meet the event's requirements.

  • The host needs to reconnect their Patreon integration.

For more details visit Joining a Patreon event for Patrons.

Still Need Help?

If you've tried the suggestions above and are still having trouble:

  • Contact the event host for questions about registrations, tickets, refunds, or event access.

  • Contact the Crowdcast Support team if you believe you're experiencing a technical issue with the platform itself.
