Audience Participation & Visibility Controls

Control how attendees interact during your event and manage what information is visible to participants.

These settings help you choose whether attendees can join the Gallery, request to join the gallery, view other attendees, or see the live attendee count.

Gallery Access

From the People tab, hosts and co-hosts can control who can join the Gallery.

Within your event:

  1. Click the People tab.

  2. Open Host controls.

  3. Under gallery permissions, choose one of the three options:

    • Private - Only invited participants can join

    • Closed- Attendees can request access; hosts must approve

    • Open - Anyone can join the Gallery

      Your selection will apply automatically.

Live Count Visibility

Within your event:

  1. Click the People tab.

  2. Open Host controls.

  3. Under live count visibility, choose one of the three options:

    • Hosts - Only hosts can see the live attendee count

    • Organizers- Hosts, speakers, moderators and crew can see the live attendee count

    • Everyone - Everyone can see the live attendee count

      Your selection will apply automatically.

Hide Audience

Within your event as the host:

  1. Click the People tab.

  2. Open Host controls.

  3. Turn on Hide audience.

    Audience members will no longer be visible to attendees.


Attendee Experience

Depending on your settings, attendees may be able to:

  • Join the Gallery directly

  • Request permission to speak

  • See other attendees in the People tab

  • View the live attendee count

Hosts and co-hosts can update these settings at any time during the event.


Privacy Behavior

When Hide audience is enabled:

  • Attendees cannot see other audience members

  • Hosts and organizers can still manage and view attendees

  • Speakers and invited Gallery participants remain visible during the session

These settings only affect visibility within the event for attendees.


Recommended Setups

Webinar or Presentation Style

Recommended settings:

  • Gallery Access: Invite only

  • Hide Audience: On

  • Live Count Visibility: Hosts or Organizers

Best for large presentations, webinars, and moderated sessions.

Interactive Community Event

Recommended settings:

  • Gallery Access: Raise hand

  • Hide Audience: Off

  • Live Count Visibility: Everyone

Best for Q&As, workshops, and community discussions.

Open Networking Session

Recommended settings:

  • Gallery Access: Open

  • Hide Audience: Off

  • Live Count Visibility: Everyone

Best for informal meetups and networking events.


Common Questions

  • Why can attendees see each other?

The Hide audience setting is turned off. Enable it from People โ†’ Host controls to hide audience from attendees.

  • Why canโ€™t attendees request to speak?

Gallery Access is likely set to Private. Change it to Closed or Open to allow speaking requests.

  • Why did the People tab disappear?

The People tab is hidden when audience visibility is restricted.

  • Why can attendees join the Gallery?

Gallery Access is currently set to Open. Change it to Closed or Private to limit access.
