Whether you're attending or hosting a live event, the chat feature is a great way to engage and connect.
For Attendees
Accessing the Chat
Join the Event: Enter the event link provided by the host.
Locate the Chat Box: The chat box is on the right side of the screen.
Participating in Chat
Sending Messages: Type your message in the chat box at the bottom and hit Enter to send.
Reactions: Use emojis or reactions to express your feelings without typing.
Best Practices
Stay On-Topic: Keep discussions relevant to the event to enhance the experience for everyone.
Be Respectful: Maintain a respectful tone and be mindful of others' opinions.
Use Q&A Feature: If you have questions for the host, it’s helpful to wait for the designated Q&A times, and drop your questions directly in the Q&A section.
For Hosts
Managing the Chat
Access the Chat Panel: As a host, you have all the options attendees do in the chat, but you have access to moderation tools:
You can also disable or hide the chat, and enable it again.
Ban or remove disruptive participants if necessary.
You can present a message from the chat on the stage by hovering over the chat message, and clicking on the icon on the far left.
You can move questions from the chat to the Q&A section by hovering over the chat message, and clicking on the '?' icon.
Pop out the main and/or private chat, so you can keep an eye on the conversation even while viewing other modules. You can place the popped-out chat alongside your event or on a second monitor if you have a dual monitor setup. Here’s an example of what this looks like:
Engaging with Attendees
Responding to Questions: Be proactive in responding to questions or comments. You can also designate specific times for Q&A.
Encouraging Interaction: Prompt attendees to share their thoughts or questions during the event to foster engagement.
Engaging with your Team and Speakers Backstage
Backstage Chat Module – This is a private chat space that is only accessible to hosts, co-hosts, speakers, and moderators. Here's where you can find the different modules:
Best Practices for Hosts
Set Chat Guidelines: At the beginning of the event, establish ground rules for chat to maintain a positive environment.
Monitor the Chat: Keep an eye on the public and backstage chat throughout the event, so you can address any issues or highlight important messages.
Use Polls and Reactions: Encourage attendees to participate in polls or reactions to make the event interactive.
Important Notes:
As a host, if you can't see the chat after you've previously disabled it, ensure you have selected 'enable', and try refreshing your browser or check your internet connection before your event starts.
