How to Accept Contributions From Your Attendees

Looking to accept donations, contributions, or tips? Here's how.

Before running an event where you intend to ask attendees to contribute, tip, or donate, please review Stripe’s requirements. Stripe is the integrated payment system we use.

Two Ways to Accept Contributions

Want to accept donations, contributions, or tips during your Crowdcast event? There are two ways to do this:

  • Offer a Pay-What-You-Can ticket when attendees register.

  • Invite attendees to contribute during your live event using a Contribution button.

You can use either option, or both.

Before collecting donations, contributions, or tips, we recommend reviewing [Stripe's requirements for accepting donations].

Create a Pay-What-You-Can Ticket

You can create a sliding-scale ticket that allows attendees to choose how much they'd like to pay.

  1. Create or edit your event and scroll to Access.

  2. Select Ticketed and create a ticket.

  3. Select Sliding Scale.

  4. Enter the minimum amount attendees can pay.

  5. You can also set a maximum amount, or leave the maximum blank.

Add a Contribution Button During Your Event

You can also invite attendees to contribute while your event is live using a Call to Action.

  1. Open the Studio from your event.

  2. Select Calls to Action.

  3. Add a Contribution button.

  4. Give your button a label and, optionally, add a message for your attendees.

  5. When you're ready to display it, select Show.

The Contribution button will appear below the stage for your attendees.

When an attendee selects it, they'll see your message and an option to enter their contribution amount. They'll then be able to complete their payment securely through Stripe without leaving your event.
