How to Share Youtube Videos

Learn how to share a YouTube video - or video from another platform -during your Crowdcast event.

YouTube videos currently can't be shared directly by URL through the Studio or Media Tray. However, you can still share them during your event using one of the options below.

Option 1: Share the YouTube tab

The quickest option is to play the video in your browser and share the tab with your audience.

  1. Open the YouTube video in a separate browser tab.

  2. In Crowdcast, select Share Screen from the Media Tray.

  3. Select the browser tab containing your YouTube video.

  4. Make sure Share tab audio is enabled.

  5. Select Share.

  6. Play the video when you're ready.

For the best experience, we recommend using the latest version of a Chrome-based browser.

💡 Tip: This method also works for videos hosted on other browser-based platforms, such as Vimeo.

Option 2: Upload the video to Crowdcast

If you have access to the original video file, you can upload it directly to your Studio instead.

Hosts and co-hosts can upload videos to the Studio, and anyone with the appropriate media permissions can then share the video from the Studio or Media Tray.

Uploading the video is a great option when you have the original file and don't want to rely on browser tab playback during your live event.

Test before you go live

Whichever method you choose, we recommend testing the video before your event to make sure both the video and audio are playing as expected.

If you're sharing a browser tab, don't forget to enable Share tab audio - otherwise, your audience won't hear the video's sound.
