If you're promoting your event in several places — such as email, social media, or paid campaigns — UTM links can help you understand which channels are working best.
What is a UTM link?
A UTM link is your regular Crowdcast event URL with some additional tracking information added to the end.
For example, instead of sharing the same event link everywhere, you could create separate links for:
Your email newsletter
Instagram
Facebook
LinkedIn
Paid advertising
When someone visits or registers for your event using one of those links, Crowdcast can record the UTM information in your event analytics.
Create a UTM link
You can create UTM links using a tool such as Google's Campaign URL Builder.
Start with the shareable URL for your Crowdcast event, then add the details you want to track.
The most commonly used fields are:
Campaign Source – Where the visitor came from, such as
newsletter, facebook, orlinkedin.Campaign Medium – The type of marketing, such as
email, social, orpaid.Campaign Name – A name that identifies the campaign, such as your event name or promotion.
For example, a link shared in your newsletter might identify the source as newsletter and the medium as email.
💡 Tip: Use clear and consistent names for your UTM campaigns. This will make your analytics much easier to understand later.
This is an example of what a UTM link looks like:
Share your UTM links
Once you've created your links, use the appropriate version wherever you're promoting your event.
For example, you might use one UTM link in your newsletter and another in a LinkedIn post.
They can all lead to the same Crowdcast event — the UTM information simply helps you identify where visitors came from.
View your UTM analytics
After people begin visiting and registering for your event, you can view your UTM data from your Crowdcast dashboard.
Open the event's Analytics to see which campaigns and traffic sources are generating activity.
UTM analytics can help you compare:
Page views – People who visited your event registration page using a tracked link.
Registrations – People who went on to register for the event.
This can help you understand not only which channels are generating traffic, but which ones are actually leading to registrations.

Important Note:
UTM data in your attendee CSV
UTM information is also included when you export your event's attendee CSV.
This can be useful if you'd like to review individual registration data or analyze your campaigns outside Crowdcast.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to create a different Crowdcast event for each campaign?
No. You can create multiple UTM links that all point to the same Crowdcast event.
Do UTM links change where attendees register?
No. Attendees are still taken to your normal Crowdcast event page. The additional information in the URL is used for tracking.
Should I use the same UTM link everywhere?
You can, but you'll get more useful information if you create different UTM links for the channels or campaigns you want to compare.
Where can I see my UTM results?
Open your event's Analytics in your Crowdcast dashboard. UTM information is also available in your exported attendee CSV.
