Resetting a session allows you to start over without creating another event or asking your attendees to register again.
Made a mistake or went live too early? Resetting a session lets you start fresh using the same event link.
Before You Reset
⚠️ Important: Before You Reset
Resetting a session allows you to start fresh, but there are a few things to know:
Recordings: Your previous recording remains recoverable for 7 days after resetting. During this time, you can download it or restore it as your session's replay.
Analytics: Your analytics are retained. However, live attendance data does not reset, so you may not be able to distinguish who attended before or after the reset.
Clips: Clips are not currently saved when a session is reset. We're working to improve this.
What Happens When You Reset?
When you reset a session:
Attendees can remain on the event page. They'll reconnect automatically when you go live again.
Registrations and event settings stay the same.
Chat messages remain available.
Your previous recording is removed from the replay but remains recoverable for 7 days.
Analytics are retained, including previous live attendance information.
Clips from the session are not preserved.
Only the selected session is reset in a multi-session event.
How to Reset a Session
Open your event.
Click Options in the top-right corner, or click the ⋮ next to Ended in the bottom-left corner of your event.
Select Reset Session.
Read the warning message, then click Yes to confirm.
Tip: If attendees are already waiting in the event, they can stay on the page. When you go live again, they'll reconnect automatically. There's no need to refresh or register again.
Resetting While Using RTMP?
If you're streaming with RTMP (OBS, Ecamm, Wirecast, vMix, etc.), you'll need to generate a new stream key after resetting.
To do this:
Exit RTMP mode.
Re-enter RTMP mode.
Copy the new stream key into your encoder.
Reconnect your encoder before going live again.
When Should I Reset a Session?
Resetting a session is useful if:
You accidentally went live too early.
You started in Browser mode instead of RTMP (or vice versa).
You want to restart the session after a significant issue or mistake.
Tip: You don't need to reset your session if you're simply troubleshooting your camera, microphone, or screen sharing. These issues can usually be resolved without resetting.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does resetting a session erase my analytics?
No. Your analytics are retained when you reset a session.
You can still see whether an attendee joined live, along with the date and time they first attended.
However, if you reset a session and go live again, the attendance data does not start over. Someone who attended before the reset may still show as having attended live, even if they didn't join the new broadcast.
This means you won't be able to reliably determine whether someone attended the broadcast after the reset based on the existing live attendance information alone.
Can I recover my recording after resetting?
Yes! Recordings remain recoverable for 7 days after you reset the session.
During this time, you can:
Download your previous recording.
Restore the recording as your session's replay.
After 7 days, the recording is no longer recoverable.
What happens to my clips when I reset?
Clips are currently not saved when a session is reset.
If you've created clips you'd like to keep, be sure to download them before resetting. We're working on improvements to how clips are handled.
Will my attendees need to register again?
No! Your registrations and event link remain the same. Attendees can return using their original event link.
Can I reset just one session in a multi-session event?
Yes. Resetting one session does not reset the other sessions in your event.
Important Notes
The Reset Session option is only available after a session has gone live.
Recordings are recoverable for 7 days after resetting.
