How to Use Clips in Crowdcast

Clips make it easy to capture and share memorable moments from a Crowdcast replay.

Hosts can use clips to repurpose event content for social media and marketing, while attendees can create and share their favorite moments from public events.

For Hosts

Why use Clips?

Clips are a simple way to get more value from your event after it's over.

You can turn highlights from your replay into shareable content to:

  • Promote your event or channel

  • Share memorable moments on social media

  • Give potential attendees a preview of your content

  • Encourage more people to register and watch the full replay

When are Clips available?

Clipping is automatically enabled for public events.

Clips cannot be created for unlisted/private events.

Clips are created from the replay, so they cannot be created while an event is live.

Note: Clipping is not available for RTMP Studio sessions.

How to turn Clips on or off

If you don't want people creating clips from your event:

  1. Open the Clips module.

  2. Select the Settings cog in the top-right.

  3. Disable clipping.

You can return here and enable clipping again if needed.

For multi-session events, this is an event-level setting. Turning Clips on or off applies to all sessions within the event.

Create a Clip

Once your event has ended and the replay is available:

  1. Open the event replay.

  2. Open the Clips tab.

  3. Find the moment you'd like to turn into a clip.

  4. Create your clip.

Once created, your clip can be shared directly or downloaded as an MP4.

Download and share Clips

You don't need additional editing software to share your Crowdcast clips.

You can:

  • Download the MP4 and upload it to your social or marketing channels.

  • Share a direct link to the clip.

Sharing a direct clip link can be particularly useful for introducing someone to your content and encouraging them to register to watch the full event.

Manage Clips created by attendees

If attendees create clips from your event, you remain in control of them.

Hosts can:

  • Rename attendee-created clips.

  • Delete attendee-created clips.

However, once a clip has been created, you cannot edit its timing.

What happens to Clips if I reset or delete an event?

If you reset or delete an event, any clips associated with that event will also be deleted.

Clips you've already downloaded as MP4 files will not be affected.

For Attendees

Can attendees create Clips?

Yes! If you're watching the replay of a public event and the host has clipping enabled, you can create clips of moments you'd like to save or share.

Clips aren't available for private/unlisted events or while an event is still live.

How to create a Clip

From the event replay:

  1. Open the Clips tab.

  2. Find the moment you'd like to clip.

  3. Create your clip.

  4. Give your clip a name.

  5. Once it's ready, you can share it with others.

Sharing a Clip

Once you've created a clip, you can share the clip's direct link.

This lets you share a particular highlight without needing to send someone searching through the entire replay.

Can't see the Clips option?

There are a few reasons Clips may not be available:

  • The event is private/unlisted.

  • The host has disabled clipping.

  • The event is currently live.

  • The session used RTMP Studio.

If you're unsure, reach out to the event host for more information.
