Limitations to sharing YouTube video in your Crowdcast event

This is a temporary support document, addressing recent YouTube updates

Updated over a month ago

Overview

Due to recent changes by YouTube, sharing videos from YouTube via the Studio or AV module is currently not possible. However, you can still share videos from Wistia and Vimeo without issue and are still able to share youtube video with audio in Chrome. We hope to put a "fix" in place for this as soon as possible.

Sharing Wistia and Vimeo Videos

  1. Access the Studio or AV Module: Open the Studio or AV module.

  2. Select Video Source: Choose a Wistia or Vimeo file as your source.

  3. Share the Video: Follow the standard procedure to share the video content.

Sharing YouTube Videos

Although direct sharing of YouTube videos is unavailable, you can still share them using a workaround.

  1. Open YouTube Video in Chrome

  2. Share from AV Module:

  • In the AV module, select the option to share a Screen

  • Choose the Chrome tab with the YouTube video.

  • Ensure you select “share tab audio”

Notes

  • Ensure you have the latest version of Chrome for the best performance.

  • This workaround is temporary and a direct sharing option will hopefully be available again soon.
