RTMP Studio enables you to use professional live streaming software with Crowdcast. In this article, we will show you how to connect Wirecast to a Crowdcast event.

First, open up Wirecast and set up your camera and scenes. Then follow the steps below to go live:

🎥 Steps to go live

1. Start the studio engine

2. In Wirecast, go to Output > Output Settings to add a RTMP Server destination

3. Copy and paste the Server URL and Stream Key from Crowdcast into Wirecast

By default, RTMP Studio will deliver the video quality at the quality received from your encoder app or gear. We recommend streaming your video at 1080p at 2000 - 3000 kbps for the best experience.

4. When you're ready to go live, go to Output > Start/Stop Broadcasting > Start RTMP Server

🚀 That's it! You're now live and broadcasting to Crowdcast.

While live, all the powers of Wirecast are available to you including sharing recorded videos, lower thirds, intro/outro videos, screen-sharing, and more.

When you're ready to end the broadcast, click on the End Broadcast button in Crowdcast and then Stop Streaming in Wirecast.

Important Notes

  • Please note that RTMP connection times will vary. The length of time for your stream key and URL to populate is often related to the efficiency of the servers closest to you and how active they are at the time you go live.

  • With RTMP Studio, there is a video delay of 20 - 40 seconds similar to Facebook live and Youtube live.

  • Your video will stream and record in HD to all devices.

  • For more details on recommended encoding software settings, check out our support doc covering RTMP Studio.
